RETURN OF THE K-9 PROGRAM
Sumner County’s K-9 Program ended abruptly around 2018 and has not returned.
Among the Boyd appointed Staff will be 2 currently certified K-9 handlers, who are Sumner County residents
A.) K-9’s paired with a trained handler provide an above-human element to crime enforcement.
B.) K-9 duties:
-Drug Detection (patrol, school, casino)
-Drug Interdiction (interstate emphasis)
-Suspect Apprehension
-Evidence Recovery
-Lost & Missing Persons
-Officer Safety
In addition to Patrol, K-9 would also be resourced and readily available to SRO for school sniffs, calls, and assignments.

RE-BUILD THE RESERVE PROGRAM
Full details outlining this sector are explained in the Budget pledge section.
We have a lot of volunteers excited for the opportunity to return assisting this department and providing their time and talents to increase and expand service across the county.
